Business-Center Vallendar is a six-storey round structure of reinforced concrete frame construction with a diameter of 24 m. The harmonious contrasts in colour and materials between its glass, aluminium and terracotta facades represent an architectonic highlight on the outskirts of Koblenz. But the complete building services and interior fittings also testify to the owner's vision. Thanks to EIB bus technology, the house sets new standards with regard to state-of-the-art building management systems and well thought-out interior fittings.
In a construction time of only 15 months, a modern building for offices, administrative departments and professional practices was created, with rooms providing gorgeous views of the Rhine. An integrated facade and systems concept was implemented by means of which ventilation, heating, cooling and lighting can be provided year-round using the available natural resources. By dispensing with suspended ceilings in the office areas, an extensive storage mass has been provided which makes an active thermal contribution to the energy balance. Another noteworthy feature is the concrete core activation through the use of ground water.
Inovative electrical installations and the EIB and network systems make the Business-Center in Vallendar an energy-efficient multifunctional building. This is underscored by the way in which the EIB programs for the lighting, solar protection and building services system controllers are adapted to specific use profiles. To enable maximum diversity of building utilisation, structured data cable systems are fitted in the false floors, and the concrete ceilings contain lights integrated into fixed grids.
To accentuate the building's transparency, the switch series Berker B.7 Glas was selected. Their frames, which are housed entirely in glass, really come into their own in the modern work spaces of Business-Center Vallendar. Clarity and precise contours are the hallmarks of the glass switch range, and fully satisfy the owner's needs. The switch range is modularly structured and is compatible with other design lines.
